Concept:

Walking on the clouds was my childhood aspiration.

This work is dedicated to handicapped Vietnamese children who do not call for pity, but deeply move hearts by their serenity and innocence. The smiles and the eyes of the children express their aspiration for life, to achieve their dreams, though they seem out of reach like clouds in the sky. Such aspiration for life proves the courageous insight of these determined children who are crippled but not useless. Hoang Ly invites you to walk into the world of these clouds, made of blue-dyed rugged cords, flowing with photographs taken by The Phong. At the end of this walk on the clouds, there is a mirror provided to give the spectator an opportunity to look into their own soul, to see if there are any aspirations that they may have forgotten in their rush to earn a living, and subsequently, leaving them crippled without being aware of it.

NOTE: The installation is designed with wheel chair access to enable handicapped children to enter the installation and enjoy “the cloud” that is dedicated to them.

Ý niệm:

Sắp đặt Mây dành cho bộ ảnh Trẻ khuyết tật. Ang may duoc ket boi nhung soi day thung xanh tho rap. Khát vọng Mây của trẻ khuyết tật. Ly mời người thưởng lãm bước vào trong áng mây dài 7m, rộng 3,5 m, cao 2,2m màu xanh da trời để bồng bềnh cùng ảnh của Thế Phong – những bức ảnh mô tả vẻ đẹp thanh thản, an bình và vô cùng trong trẻo của trẻ khuyết tật được lồng trong những tấm mi-ca trong suốt hình mây, treo lơ lửng hay bồng bềnh trôi như một chiếc nôi. Trong đó có một áng mây thay vì để ảnh, Ly gắn lên đó một tấm gương để khán giả có dịp soi mình. Đặc biệt, đắp đặt Mây được thiết kế cho xe lăn có thể vào được.

Các tác phẩm sắp đặt này nhận được sự giúp đỡ tư vấn về kết cấu và kỹ thuật thi công của kiến trúc sư Hồ Đình Chiêu và họa sỹ mỹ thuật công trình Đoàn Đức Sơn (trường ĐH Kiến trúc), để tính an toàn của các tác phẩm sắp đặt đối với người thưởng lãm, đặc biệt là người khuyết tật, được đảm bảo.
